The Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) program will be rolled out on April 27. The Government of Canada's online calculator allows businesses to preview their claim ahead of time.
Application will be through your My Business Account on the CRA web site. You are encouraged to register your payroll account for direct deposit to get your payment faster. Applicants will be asked to provide number of eligible employees and gross payroll for subsidizing amount.
The program is intended to prevent future job loss and encourage re-hiring workers already being laid off.
This consists of a 75% wage subsidy for qualifying businesses, for up to 3 months, retroactive to March 15, 2020, which was announced by the Prime Minister on March 27.
